Bayer is looking for a highly creative and motivated Chemical Biologist / Molecular Biologist / Cell Biologist (f/m/d) to join Bayer’s Life Science Technology Department (LST) within Drug Discovery Sciences (DDS), Germany.

At LST, you will be part of an interdisciplinary team of scientists within the R&D organization and contribute to the development and discovery of innovative methods that will facilitate excellence in target discovery and early drug discovery. The position is part of a Bayer Life Science Collaboration program, which promotes state-of-the-art research within the global Bayer organization with special focus on cross-divisional exchange. You will closely collaborate with colleagues from Crop Science and Pharma in Europe and the US.

Your tasks and responsibilities

• You establish a fully automated pull-down platform to profile the cellular interactome of small molecules and other modalities
• You work together with proteomics experts (f/m/d) in the team to develop, optimize and miniaturize chemoproteomics methods in different cell systems
• Your responsibilities include designing and implementing efficient cell culture and automation workflows
• You support ongoing projects of our drug discovery pipeline in different stages with target discovery, target deconvolution and lead discovery activities via the platform
• In closely collaboration with data scientists and computational biologists, you ensure the quantitative analysis of generated data, while analysing data to identify novel drug candidates
• You are part of a motivated, global, and interdisciplinary research team, in close interaction with colleagues from the Bayer Pharma R&D organization and several contract research organisations

Who you are

• You have completed a PhD in chemical biology, cell biology, molecular biology, chemistry, or a related discipline
• You bring a strong background in cell biology, cell culture, assay, and method development (postdoctoral research experience is an advantage)
• You have a solid affinity for laboratory automation
• Experience in proteomics and protein mass spectrometry data analysis is highly appreciated
• Basic chemistry knowledge allowing for efficient communication and exchange with chemistry teams strengthens your profile
• Strong interpersonal skills with the proven record of independent problem-solving compliment your ability to work efficiently in cross-functional teams to reach joint goals
• You demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills
• Your proficiency in English is excellent, both spoken and written
